SREDA was founded in 2001. Its purpose is the creation, preservation, and dissemination of film and art. Since then, it has been responsible—apart from a few exceptions—for the films and productions directed by Viola Stephan.

Shortly after his death, SREDA was entrusted with the estate management of Berlin-based sculptor DIETER FINKE (1939–2011).
